Well, we all like to have a white Christmas and half expect it in the north where I have lived my life up until today. But when the ice comes so comes the power outages and the roads that strike fear in the heart of the most confident driver. The ice on the trees is beautiful and yet that ice is slowly killing the tree as the branches fall off. Yes, the branches are severed and separated from the trunk due to the shear weight. Once these branches are separate from the tree they become dead wood just a large pile of limbs and sticks….no longer connected to the lifeline of the tree that gave them their life blood. This is so similar to the verse John 15:1-4 in which Jesus mentions that He is the true vine and God is the gardener. He cuts off a branch that bears no fruit, and prunes the branches that bear fruit so that they will be more fruitful. But in John 15:6 ” If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. So stay connected with the Lord by remaining in his word and with his people seeking to be more like him and your tree of life will remain healthly and strong and be pruned accordingly.
