Today I hiked Otter Cove Trail and Quarry Trail with friends. It was an overcast day but we had a good time on the trail. The trail was only 2.5 miles and additional miles to view Thunder Hole which was about another .4 miles. We hiked the first two trails between 9 AM and 11:30. We had a few stops along the way to walk the beach of Otter cove and to have a snack at the picnic table at Blackwoods campground.
It was not too cold today and there was minimal ice on the path.
Though it was a short hike it was a great to get onto a trail I had only done only once a few years ago and to walk on the Quarry trail that was new to me. The moss and young trees were amazing. We saw and heard a loon, we also saw bufflehead ducks, and a few black guillemots.
