Mission walk perimeter of MDI trek 11

Which road are you walking?  One looks like a nice forest path, one a narrow road but with warning signs and well the bottom one looks a little rocky and leads nowhere!

Psalm 119: 9-16 in the Message

How can a young person live a clean life?
By carefully reading the map of your Word.
I’m single-minded in pursuit of you;
don’t let me miss the road signs you’ve posted.
I’ve banked your promises in the vault of my heart
so I won’t sin myself bankrupt.
Be blessed, God;
train me in your ways of wise living.
I’ll transfer to my lips
all the counsel that comes from your mouth;
I delight far more in what you tell me about living
than in gathering a pile of riches.
I ponder every morsel of wisdom from you,
I attentively watch how you’ve done it.
I relish everything you’ve told me of life,
I won’t forget a word of it.

Our walk last week of the perimeter of MDI lead us a little off the path and we had a few interesting adventures.   Though I do not recommend going off the path that God has placed before us I think that he was our guide when we found the new beach in Bernard.

So we walked from Bass Harbor Lighthouse to the Richtown Road.

Along the walk we got off the main course a few times and ended up doing a few chicken legs as Katie referred to them.  One of the chicken legs took us to a new beach.  I believe we found back beach in Bernard.  We almost got swamped by a wave.  The tide was high and the waves were a crashing due to a recent storm named Stella.

The yard at the right was taking on some ocean waves and the road was a little wet too!

Our second chicken leg took us along a road that seemed to connect but there were a few warning signs and a well chewed stick that made us turn back and retrace our steps back to the main road.  We were sort of bummed to have to leave out the loop but glad were not running for our lives to live another day!

It took us just under three hours and we traveled 8.2 miles.  It was a good walk and great company!

The walk made me think about the path that we are on compared to the path that the Lord has prepared for us.  We had a plan mapped out and did not follow it as we walked.  We found adventure and a neat new beach but are you on the road of life that the Lord has carefully prepared especially for you or are you on the road with “no trespass” and “beware of dog”.   God loves you and cares for you more than you will ever know.

Planned to walk see map below!

Where we walked…..sort of a long way with a chicken leg in the middle!
